- High proportion (>75%) of materials are sourced from lower-impact materials.
- All their factories are GOTS certified.
- Their factories recycle their offcuts from production processes and their primary* factory also uses advanced software to make sure there is minimal waste when cutting garments.
- The factory where their hoodies were made also send the leftover dye mud to a cement factory to be recycled.
- Their manufacturing takes place in India.
- They are a slow fashion brand.
- They house a small quality collection.
- Their products are mass-produced.
- They use compostable and biodegradable bags made from corn for safe storage of clothing at their warehouse.
- Orders are packaged at the Yes Friends HQ in Bristol using their distinctive flaming hot orange bags, which are made from 30% recycled plastic and are 100% recyclable and biodegradable. These bags ensure that the clothing remains protected during transit.
- They ship by sea wherever possible to keep their carbon footprint as low as possible. Sometimes when the need for a quick shipment arises, it is not possible to ship by sea, so they use air freight. They are working on their freight schedules to minimise the latter case.
- Royal Mail delivers their parcels to the end consumer and has the lowest reported carbon footprint per delivery of the major UK delivery services.
- The brand also works with Shopify to ensure all the deliveries are Carbon Neutral.
- Their primary* factory in India where Yes Friends' knitting, cutting & sewing takes place is water positive: 100% of water used is processed and recycled through either a reserve osmosis process or at the Effluent Treatment Plant onsite.
- They also have a rainwater harvesting system that recharges groundwater.
- Organic cotton uses significantly less water than conventional cotton and isn't sprayed with toxic chemicals keeping waterways cleaner.
- They have a Code of Coduct for their suppliers.
- They trace a high proportion of their supply chain.
- They are currently manufacturing with just one supplier and visited them in February 2024.
- All their factories are certified by third parties such as Fair Trade, Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), Fair Wear Foundation (FWF), Worldwide Responsible Apparel Production (WRAP), Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) and FLO-CERT.
- They are not a member of FWF, but have a detailed report that discloses worker wages providing evidence that they pay living wages to workers in their final stage of production.
- They do not use any animal derived ingredients in the manufacturing of their products.
- They give garment workers a bonus for every product that they make for Yes Friends, being the only brand in the UK that allows customers to directly tip garment workers.
- In September 2023, they collaborated with the world's largest anti-slavery charity, International Justice Mission, to sell a special T-shirt, raising £2,000 for the organization.
